In April, Esther Yoo embarked on a Spanish tour with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Vasily Petrenko, featuring Bruch’s 1st Violin Concerto which they recorded together for Deutsche Grammophon. Ahead of the concert, Esther was interviewed by Mundoclassico about her connection to the music of Bruch and Barber. The performance was well-reviewed by Scherzo: “Yoo has a prodigious clarity of diction. Everything, even in the fastest passages, is heard with crystal clarity. Chords and passages of double or triple strings sound exact and with immaculate attacks, and the richness of nuance and colour is frankly remarkable.”
