This February, Esther Yoo made her Shanghai Symphony Orchestra debut and reunited with Maestro Long Yu at the Shanghai Symphony Hall. For their first performance of the Year of the Snake, Esther performed Bruch’s Violin Concero No. 1.
Esther and Maestro Yu previously collaborated for the opening concert of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s season at London’s Cadogan Hall in September 2024, where they performed Bernstein’s “Serenade.”
According to The Shanghai Paper, “Esther Yoo’s interpretation of Bruch demonstrated extraordinary technical prowess and emotional tension… Her emotional expression was perfectly calibrated – avoiding sentimentality while maintaining a classical vocabulary, yet still delivering an intensely rich emotional experience.”
