On October 16, Esther Yoo returned to the Seoul Arts Center to make her debut with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. Conductor Wilson Ng led Esther and the orchestra in Glazunov’s rhapsodic Violin Concerto in A Minor, as well as Kodaly’s Dances of Galanta and the first symphony of Dmitri Shostakovich. Esther first recorded this concerto with Vladimir Ashkenazy and the Philharmonia Orchestra for Deutsche Grammophon in 2015. Maintaining a special relationship to the piece, this concert marked Esther’s first performance since the COVID-19 pandemic caused widespread concert cancellations.
